About BetsyBetsy Jayne is a Folktronica artist who grew on a spiritual cult/hippy commune. She grew up listening to classic rock on the commune's radio station, and inspired by her mom’s favorite radio programs, such as 'Thistle and Shamrock,' and the music of the local band NRC, Betsy has developed an eclectic musical style.
At 21, Betsy's passion for electronic music fueled her curiosity to explore the rave scene in San Francisco and eventually take a life-changing trip to India at 24. There, she embraced the music of the country, picking up instruments like drum, Indian vocals, and flute. She also learned to speak Hindi and started a jewelry business with Harijan tribes. Betsy taught English in Tokyo, Japan. She also spent much of her time hiking in the Nepali, Indian, and Tibetan Himalayan mountains. In India, Betsy began her lifelong practice of mindfulness meditation. She eventually found herself in Nashville, where she dove into her passion for electronic music, synthesizers, and digital production, resulting in her more recent musical style of Folktronica music. She is also a psychotherapist. |
